On October 26 and 28 of 2010, the Asterisk Company is planning to launch their seventh annual AstriCon Open Source Telephony Conference and Exhibition. The venue, a resort and convention center just outside Washington D.C., is expected to welcome Asterisk users from many different fields; as the Asterisk website claims, “You will not find a greater mix of individuals than at AstriCon. From code gurus to venture capitalists to social activists." These individuals will be drawn from Asterisk’s community of now over 65,000 members across 170 nations.

The convention aims to increase public awareness of Asterisk, a communications platform which boasts to bring together many different companies: “Dozens of products have been based on the Asterisk code, and hundreds of products and services have been created to expand on the power of Asterisk.” Users will be able to “learn about the technology in depth, to discuss its newest uses and to meet potential collaborators” at the conference.

The program for this year’s event includes four concurrent conference tracks, focusing on carriers and call centers, cloud, commerce, government and enterprise, technical, and the Asterisk Ecosystem. Those hoping to register can do so here: http://www.astricon.net/.
