Palo Alto Networks, a tech-firm, has taken firewalls to the next level by using patent-pending App_ID technology that helps the system in identifying and controlling applications at great speed with no performance impact. As many modern applications can deceive firewalls, there is a need to recognize such programs and filter them through, allowing or blocking them as required. The Palo Alto's next-generation firewall scans for threats and accurately identifies and controls applications, a major advantage over the old-fashioned, firewall.

The key to Palo Alto's new firewall is that it provides a more detailed, granular approach to firewall protection, beyond IP addresses and other traditional functions. Palo Alto Networks new firewalls can detect sophisticated threats at the application level, offering  protection against current and emerging cyber attacks. It doesn’t matter what port, evasive tactic, SSL encryption or protocol used – the next-generation firewalls from Palo Alto can handle and identify the threat.

Many network systems are used by remote employees, increasing the risk for cyber instrusion. This situation can be averted with Palo Alto's GlobalProtect system, designed to secure remote endpoints within a network. However, unlike regular endpoint security, this system connects applications and content-based policies to remote users using a persistent thin client that can be installed on as-needed basis, or it can be used as a  pre-installed feature.
