On May 9, 2011 Xerox Corporation and Cisco announced that they will be working together to provide a series of cloud-based services and technology solutions to the public. They also intend to create a simplified and connected infrastructure that will improve the efficiency and accessibility of IT applications.
The alliance will result in three major collaborations:
Xerox Managed Print Services over Cisco Borderless Networks will combine IT and print management between the two companies. The consolidation will take advantage of the network’s embedded security and WAN optimization to protect important data and improve the overall level of productivity. It will also provide access to several mobile and cloud printing applications.
Xerox Cloud ITO Services built on Cisco UCS and Vblock infrastructure will allow companies to initialize new IT services at a much faster rate than before. This should also help to reduce IT costs by providing access to private cloud deployments, infrastructure-as-a-service, and high level cloud consulting services. These specialized cloud services will be offered by ACS, a Xerox Company.
Xerox Mobile Print Solution on Cisco virtual desktop clients and Cisco Cius™ offers a safe method for customers to print business documents from their mobile devices. Employees will simply send a file to a printer at their company or organization and type in a code to print out the document.
