Sipera Systems Solution Now Rated 'Avaya Compliant'

Updated: January 14, 2011

RICHARDSON, Texas, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Sipera Systems, a leader in real-time Unified Communications (UC) enablement and security, today announced that its UC-Sec security appliance is compliant with the Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager and Avaya Aura™ Session Manager 6.0, a solution from Avaya, Inc., a global leader in enterprise communications systems, software and services.

The Sipera Systems UC-Sec appliance serves as a Secure Access Proxy node inside of a UC architecture by providing a comprehensive UC security and compliance solution for all internal and external UC end-points. In this role, UC-Sec helps enterprises to securely and confidently leverage the power of UC by making it ubiquitous, while reducing costs through access-side network simplification. The appliance has been compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with the Avaya Aura Communication Manager and Avaya Aura Session Manager 6.0, which enables enterprise employees and teleworkers at any location to be securely connected regardless of the infrastructure their UC endpoints reside on.

"Avaya Aura Communication Manager and Session Managerenable faster and easier deployment of voice, video, messaging, and presence communications, helping enterprises boost productivity and business agility," said Andy Asava, Vice President of Business Development at Sipera. "Sipera UC-Sec appliances serve as a Secure Access Proxy node, providing enterprises with centralized security controls, and an increased ability to satisfy industry security and privacy mandates for all their internal UC communications. In addition, with UC-Sec appliances deployed, enterprises can securely extend Avaya UC applications to decentralized teleworkers."

Sipera Systems is a member of the Avaya DevConnect program—an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network.

As a Platinum member of the program, Sipera Systems is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab. There, a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure - speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

"Many enterprises are extending initial, internal VoIP installations, and deploying voice, messaging, presence, video, and Web applications to their entire global workforces. While they benefit from cost-effective, real-time communications and collaboration, these enterprises must also ensure the security of every application and communications device," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations, Avaya. "Sipera's UC-Sec appliances complement the Avaya Aura Communication Manager and Session Manager, ensuring enterprises can more confidently extend their UC infrastructures as well as secure every internal endpoint."
