Q&A: Engage Employees with Learning Management Software

How to Choose the Right Solution

Updated: September 12, 2016

Learning Management Systems

Q: As a manager for more than 5 years, I know that keeping employees educated and trained keeps them engaged. In order to do this efficiently I know I need a learning management solution, but with so many options, I can't determine which solution is best. We're a large company, so we'll need a robust piece of software. What do you recommend?

A: Thank you very much for your question! In your experience as a manger, you’ve astutely identified education and job engagement as some of the key components to driving employee efficiency, productivity, and satisfaction.

While a Learning Management System (LMS) can benefit businesses of every size with continuing education and training capabilities, your intuition to carefully select a system that will meet your company’s ongoing training needs and position your for growth is right on point.

Online education is quickly growing in popularity, so there is an abundant array of LMS solutions on the market for you to choose from. However, for a large corporate setting, we do prefer a couple of systems over the competition: Absorb LMS and Grovo LMS.

Absorb LMS

Absorb offers a leading learning management solution with flexible pricing and vast opportunities to scale along with your business.

This LMS also boasts features such as:

  • User-friendly interface
  • Online and mobile learning capabilities
  • Easy to customize and brand for highly tailored corporate training environments

Grovo LMS

Grovo is another great LMS option for large companies with continuous employee educational and training needs. Grovo is easy and fast to implement, and offers great features such as:

  • Large selection of predesigned tools and templates
  • Delivery, tracking, and reporting on eLearning and training activities

The cost of Grovo is less than Absorb, and while it is much faster to implement and begin using, Grovo does not offer the same level of branding and customization.

The Selection Process

As you research the best LMS for your company’s success, it is important to consider your business needs and training demands so you can build them into your selection process. You can do this by asking yourself questions such as:

  • How many people will be using the Learning Management System on an ongoing basis?
  • How much do you want to invest in an LMS? Overall and per user?
  • Does the LMS provide all the training capabilities needed, and offer the tools you need to analyze and manage employee learning and skill development?
  • Do you need a secured, on-site deployment to protect sensitive information, or will an open source solution work well for your training topics and needs?

We hope this information helps successfully guide your LMS decisions. Please let us know if you have any other questions as you select, purchase, and implement your corporate systems.
