Avaya VSP 7000 Simplifies Data Center Virtualization

Avaya recently announced that they will will appear at Interop Las Vegas to unveil their new data center switch and network management solution. This new solution will simplify the design, deployment and management of data center solutions—and significantly expand Avaya's current portfolio.

This new switch, the Avaya VSP 7000 is data center-class high-density 10GbE top-of-rack switch that will streamline and simplify the implementation and management of data centers. It is also cost-effective.

The Virtual Services Platform 7000, or VSP 7000, is an addition to the Avaya Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (VENA), a network that is being continually upgraded by Avaya to offer virtualization across enterprises. This addition to VENA is perfectly timed as more and more enterprises are moving to cloud-based services, and the VSP 7000 and VENA make the transition smooth and deployment simpler.

The VSP 7000 is cost effective in migration as it uses a flexible fifth generation ASIC technology that allows companies to preserve legacy architecture and prior investments. The switch will provide hardware capabilities that include media dependent adapters that allow for connectivity with 10G, 40G, 100G or native Fiber Channels. The switch also provides for an integrated mutli-terabit fabric interconnect stack for super high bandwidth with ultra low latency.

The switch comes with hot-swap redundant power supplies and multiple airflow configurable fan trays. It also offers switch clustering, edge virtual bridging, fiber channel over Ethernet, and virtual services fabric via shortest path bridging.
