WEBINAR On Demand has released a free webinar that discusses how to properly prepare a network for an emergency. The webinar is largely a response to local disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the H1N1 Pandemic and increased government awareness towards the necessity of having information technology infrastructure remain active at all times.

The webinar shows how local governments and school districts have made sure that their networks stay functional if a crisis should occur. It also discusses the increased role of Voice over IP technology (VoiP) during an emergency, as well as the importance of text messaging, video feeds, email and blog posts. In addition, the webinar describes the different ways to implement Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery Planning.

One of the featured speakers of the webinar is James E. Kasprzak, a Professor of Systems Management at National Defense University. He spent twenty years of his life dealing with information resource management policy for the U.S. Army and has a Ph.D. from Loyola University. His areas of professional expertise include telecommunications, continuity of operations, and business applications of technology.

The other featured speaker is Chad A. Stevens, the Chief Technology Officer for the Clear Creek Independent School District. He has presented at Blackboard World and the Consortium for School Network Annual Conference and was a member of the National K-12 Advisory Board for SoftChalk Software.
