HP Unveils Performance Suite for the Instant-On Enterprise

If you’re a CIO or other IT leader for your organization, you know the value of being able to measure the performance to your IT department. That, however, is easier said than done. You have a HelpDesk solution that provides reports for the HelpDesk. You have Nagios that provides reports for system uptime. You have other areas, such as projects that your team is working on, that are difficult to measure and assess efficiency. In order to get the overview you require for your organization, you need to be able to pull of this data together in a manageable and readable format.

HP’s Solution

On June 1, HP unveiled a suite of software that the company touts as having the ability to operationalize, measure, and improve IT performance across all levels of technology in your organization. Dubbed the HP IT Performance Suite, the product provides tools to measure, benchmark, and improve performance. The goal is to provide an “Instant-On Enterprise”, using technology to service all levels of the company and every contact the company deals with. Everything needed at every point in the company can be provided instantly.

Highlights

The product is built on the open IT Data Model, and has the built-in capability to pull together data from multiple sources. Using the HP Executive Scorecard, the data displays all of a company’s metrics in one place. Management can bid the days of multiple reports from multiple sources goodbye. Using the scorecard, metrics can be quickly assessed and resources shifted about in the organization as needed. Besides making sure that resources are used properly, the product will clearly show a return on investment by highlighting where the resources are being used and their overall effectiveness in that area.

What Standards does the Suite Use?

HP’s lifecycle approach to software development and management is used as a standard in the IT Performance Suite. The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), a recognized industry standard, is also incorporated into the product. HP identified 150 best-in-class key performance indicators (KPIs). 50 of these are contained within the upcoming release of the suite.

What Types of Solutions are offered?

HP has spent a decade working with IT professionals to adapt quickly to change in technology. This experience allows HP to deliver in-house resources more effectively and overall keeps its focus on the business outcomes of the enterprise to ensure success. HP is offering solutions like this as a service within the IT Performance Suite.
