Security and quality-of-service seem to be the chief concerns of VoIP providers everywhere, and MegaPath, as of March 1, 2010, has launched a new hosted VoIP service which they hope will offer customers a higher level of both security and quality.

The new service, called DuetHosted, is part of MegaPath’s line of Duet services, and uses a hosted IP IBX solution. According to Beth Tyebjee, MegaPath’s senior vice-president of Products and Project Management, the new service (like other VoIP services) “enables workers to be completely unified whether they are across the hall, across town or across state lines.”

More exciting is the unprecedented access Duet Hosted provides to MegaPath’s previously private MPLS VPN network. This access offers customers cloud-based quality-of-service prioritization and built-in security. According to Tyebjee, “As a cloud-based service, Duet Hosted provides the convenience of the Internet without the capital expenditures of investing in onsite infrastructure.”

The service is adaptable to T1, SDSL, or broadband access, and an advanced IP telephone feature package. Features also include Auto Attendant, call forwarding options, simultaneous and sequential ring tones, music on hold, a four-digit dialing plan, and a fully managed turnkey solution including design, installation, and ongoing maintenance in order to further boost security. For businesses, Duet Hosted also offers low costs for employees and a web-based portal accessible to both administrators and users with access to the account and training webinars.
