Avaya has announced the latest version of its main unified communications solution for SMBs and SMEs (small to medium businesses and enterprises), IP Office version 6. At the same time Avaya has made it more attractive to smaller businesses by cutting the price for businesses with fewer than 20 employees.

New features added to the product include Instant Messenger tools with embedded presence indicators (location aand availability) as well as embedded voice calling.

Conference calling is improved with the ability to conference call up to 64 employees and the ability to view the call list and add, drop and mute attendees remotely. In addition, the much-awaited ability to record conference calls has been added.

Another new feature is an included video softphone, the IP Offive Video Softphone that provides point-to-point video calling, but does not yet support video conference calling.

One very important new feature is a business continuity solution that keeps voice messaging, suto attendant and other key functions running even if parts of the system crash or are otherwise disabled.
