You don’t have to purchase an expensive video conference system if you would like to chat with other people. There are several applications for Facebook that support video conferencing as long as you have a webcam and microphone.

Here’s a quick look at some video conferencing chat apps for Facebook:

360Mate

360Mate is a simple application that allows you to host a group conference session with up to six cameras at the same time. It provides the option to chat with people on your friends list through the friends tab and have one-on-one conversations with the private tab. They don’t require a lengthy registration, and there is no charge to use the service – it’s completely free.

Vpype vBroadcast

This is a live video conference application that was made specifically for Facebook. It can identify people attending the chat session by a name and graphic image, and has the ability to record shows for later viewing. It also doesn’t require you to download anything to your computer – all you have to do is add the tool to your Facebook profile.

VChatter

This video conference application uses a unique system in which your level of access is determined by the number of points you have – you start out a rookie (and thus able to access group random chat), and can move up to vChatter plus (which provides to Floor 3 chat rooms) or True vChatter (in which you have access to Floor 5 chat rooms). Points can be getting people to like or follow your Facebook page.

Stickam

tickam allows you to broadcast live video of whatever you’re doing to other people on Facebook. The application supports group video chat sessions if you want to speak with multiple people at the same time, and a special option where people have to “like” your Facebook page before they can chat with you.

FriendCameo

This popular video conferencing chat app for Facebook is used by hundreds of thousands of people each day. It allows you to have one-on-one conversations and record video messages that can be sent to other people on your friends list. There is also no charge whatsoever to use the video conferencing application.

On Conference

On Conference is a video chat application that allows multi-user conferences. It assigns a unique URL for each video conference session, and has a special option to switch to a text chat session whenever you like. The application can also be set up to work on Macintosh computers.
