Infosat Communications Enhances VSAT Network With iDirect's Evolution Platform

(VT Systems), today announced that Infosat Communications LP, a leading global provider of satellite communications solutions, has upgraded its North American VSAT network with iDirect's Evolution platform. With Evolution, Infosat can exceed customer demands for increased bandwidth and throughput, and capture new market opportunities. Infosat's new Evolution network will be integrated with 12 existing operational iDirect satellite hubs in North America, and will utilize iDirect's recent Evolution software release, iDX 2.1. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.

Infosat's infrastructure upgrade allows the provider to offer the improved network performance and enhanced capabilities that a customer demands, without having to sacrifice reliability or compromise economic feasibility. Infosat's network provides critical enterprise IP-data access for high-end customers' remote work sites, and is utilized primarily by the oil and gas sector, including drilling, production, and pipeline; the mining sector; as well as by various utility and maritime customers.

As communications requirements at remote locations have matured, Infosat's customers now rely on more bandwidth-intensive applications such as video surveillance to monitor and manage their unmanned sites.
