ShoreTel Phone Systems
ShoreTel is a publicly traded company (NASDAQ: SHOR) based out of Sunnyvale, CA. They are a provider of commercial, closed-source VOIP products. Current implementations of ShoreTel systems include telephone handsets, as well as voicemail servers, switching hardware, analog phone outputs, and other telecommunications-related hardware and software. ShoreTel's Unified Communication solution is based on a distributed architecture with a single image for administration. While traditional TDM systems or competitor VOIP solutions require 2N redundancy ShoreTel accomplishes redundancy at N+1 by balancing the load on their voice appliances. Their ShoreGear appliances to not have any spinning media or hard drive. The ShoreGear appliance runs on the mission critical operating system called VX works and flash memory. The distributed architecture is uniquely built with no single point of failure.[citation needed]. ShoreTel primarily sells and markets their product through channel partners.
